Confirmed PlayStation Storeeach country's PlayStation Store, checked 23 September 2026.
The table comes from the game’s listing on each country’s PlayStation Store, which publishes the exact unlock moment. Every country name links to its store, so you can check it yourself.
The rule: your store’s midnight, not your clock’s
Each PlayStation Store unlocks the game at 00:00 in its country’s main time zone, at the same instant for the whole country. Where a country spans several time zones, that changes when you get to play:
- United States. The store counts in Eastern time. In California you can play from 9 pm on the 18th.
- Mexico. The store counts in Mexico City time. In Tijuana it unlocks at 10 pm on the 18th, and in Cancún at 1 am on the 19th.
- Spain. 00:00 on the mainland and the Balearics, and 11 pm on Wednesday the 18th in the Canary Islands, because it is the same store.
Those three are our own arithmetic: the store’s time, moved into each zone.
What about Xbox?
Not confirmed. Microsoft has not published the unlock time on its store: the GTA VI listing does not give a specific date or time yet. As soon as it does, we will add it here and note it in the changelog below.
Pre-loading starts on 12 November
If you pre-ordered digitally, you can pre-load from midnight local time on 12 November, a week early, so you can play the moment it unlocks Confirmed Rockstar Newswire. The PlayStation Store listing says “Pre-load 7 days before” Confirmed PlayStation Store.
The physical edition also goes on sale on 12 November, for the same reason: the box holds no disc, just a download code, so whoever buys it has to redeem it and download the game like a digital copy Confirmed Rockstar Support.
What is not known yet
- The Xbox time, as above.
- The download size. Not announced. Neither the PlayStation Store nor the Xbox store shows it yet (we checked on 23 September), so any figure going round, like the viral 676 GB, has no source.
We will check these times again before launch, because stores can change them, and any change will go in the changelog below.
Changelog
This guide is updated when there is new information. Here is what changed, and when.
- How long until GTA 6, at the very top: a countdown to the unlock in your PlayStation Store, which turns into "out now" by itself at that moment.
- The discless box and the pre-load time now cite Rockstar's official support page, which confirms both in writing.
- First version: the PS5 unlock time in 18 countries, read from each country's PlayStation Store, with a countdown.
