Not for now. GTA VI comes out on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only Confirmed Rockstar Support. Rockstar has not announced a PC version, for launch or later. It has not ruled one out either.

What Take-Two has said

Take-Two, Rockstar’s owner, has talked about PC twice this year, both times careful not to announce anything.

In May, its chief executive, Strauss Zelnick, explained that Rockstar always starts on console to serve the series’ core player first. Around the same time he said that PC can account for up to half the sales of the company’s big games Reported PC Gamer.

On 17 September, at the shareholder meeting, he was asked about PC. He said the company’s strategy is, over time, to launch on any platform with a meaningful audience, and that PC is becoming more and more important to Take-Two Reported PC Gamer. He was talking about the company’s strategy in general, not GTA VI in particular.

The PC dates come from Rockstar’s own Newswire Confirmed Rockstar, GTA V Confirmed Rockstar, RDR2. Both PC versions arrived with improvements of their own: GTA V, for instance, with 4K resolution and 60 frames per second, which consoles did not have at the time.

What would you need to play it on PC?

There are no requirements, because there is no version. All that exists is an estimate: Digital Foundry thinks PC will allow higher resolution and better effects, but that reaching 60 fps will demand a powerful processor, because the game already pushes the consoles’ to the limit Reported Digital Foundry. We go into it in more depth in the consoles guide.

What is not known yet

  • Whether there will be a PC version, and when.
  • What its requirements would be.
  • Whether it would come to Steam, Rockstar’s own store, or both.

The day Rockstar announces it, we will add it here and note it in the changelog.
